I've been catching up on some old and new movies. Here are some of them I'll tell you what I think.
Totally touching. It's better than what I expected. I've always loved Kate Winslet in most of her movies. She should definitely be honoured for her quality performance. Some say that it's a complex movie but I find it okay. I can't recall any other movie that has made me so emotional for the characters after learning their secrets behind. I still can't believe that I almost missed seeing this beautiful piece. Please watch it if you haven't. It's as good as eating a strawberry parfait!

Whereas this piece was a tad of disappointment. I was putting a rather high expectation since it's a film featuring the big names Leo and Kate. It's a nature to set the bar high but somehow it just turned out to be NOT the one I expected. I was waiting for something big to happen throughout the movie. Like how there should always be a peak in a story. A revolution perhaps, as the title says.. but there was none. It's just a movie about an unhappy suburban couple living their life, dealing with their daily problems which almost every family faces and so on. I personally find it hard to like such a depressing movie. It's just not the movie for you to sit back, relax and enjoy.

I read the book first. And it was way better than the movie. That's the reason I only rate it 4/5 when it's actually a very beautiful and moving film. I understand that it's almost impossible to put everything from a book into the movie but IMHO the director kind of left out a few scenes which are crucial. *Spoilers ahead* There was this shocking part in the book where Hassan's boy tried to kill himself because he thought that he had to be sent back to the orphanage when everything has actually been sorted out. He was so close to death. I was looking forward to that but unfortunately the director didn't have enough time to slot that in I guess. Anyway it's a good film after all. You hardly get such a great film nowadays which reflects how the Afghans live. I am already looking forward to the next film - A Thousand Splendid Suns which will only be released next year.
★★★☆☆爱得起 (Give Love) is an easy romance. Pretty straight forward. Gigi is pretty, as usual. Nothing much to hoo-haa about. It'd be a good choice to kill time with your gf/bf on a Saturday afternoon ;)

Who can resist Hugh Grant with his accent? He's the role model of a gentleman. This is an old movie, some 15 years ago. It was by recommendation from a professor of mine. A romantic comedy perfectly coated with some light jokes and amusing lines without being too cheesy.

Many claim that 17 Again is VERY NICE. And when you ask them why, 10 out of 10 will answer "Because Zac Efron is so lengchai!" Wtf. Yes he is very lengchai (not my type though) but still it's just another teen movie. Very cliché. Everyone knows what's going to happen next. I would rather watch it on the plane than paying some 50bucks for it.

This is one of my favourite chick flicks. I love film like this- many stories put together in one. Similar to Love Actually if you can recall. The 2 hours plus running time goes by rather quickly and you hardly realised that you've been laughing throughout the show. I couldn't help but to agree with all the little things we all used to do/feel. Most of the time people choose to live in denial. Why not just accept the fact that he/she's just not that into you, or vice versa. Right khayinn?!

Very dramatic. A little over if you ask me. Not too bad of a movie to watch with your bff. They do make sense at some point of time. Just an average chick flick, I'd rate.

I srsly don't understand those who told me that they CRIED after watching Marley and Me. At least FOUR people that I know of. Sorry to be harsh but I think this is one of the most plain and boring movie ever. It's another overrated movie which carries some big names in it. I just find it hard to like empty movie like this. I don't know. Something is missing from the movie. Chemistry perhaps. To sum up this movie, it'd be, an ordinary couple having some hard time with their new dog, slowly they began to love the dog, then they had their first baby, second and third (was there a forth I cant remember clearly) and this dog gets weak, and it dies. Very sad, right. But it's just that. JUST THAT. I understand that dog can be a man's best friend and I do believe that a movie of a dog and a man would be very touching (which was initially my first perception) but unfortunately this one happens to be a failure. Too bad, it's a waste of talents.
