Have I mentioned in the previous entry that I'm falling in love with cooking and my cooking skill has actually improved? LOL.. Just my personal thought from what I gathered everyday after dinner ;P This is the best fried rice I have managed to 'produce' on my own so far ;) And if you're wondering if it tastes as good as it looks? The answer is NO, because it definitely tastes waayyyy better than that! :D

Can't wait to eat some REAL nasi goreng or char pui in those hawker stalls! ... and char kuey teow, and wat tan ho, and nasi lemak, and roti canai, and hayaki's honey lemon and many many more lah...

Ready for boarding! Taking the evening flight home tomorrow :)
See you soon.. and Happy Chinese New Year to ALL!!!!

恭喜恭喜 恭祝大家
新年快乐 身体健康
心想事成 事事顺利
越来越美 越来越帅

I read this somewhere... If the East (Europe) is said to be the new West, then Prague will definitely be the new Paris. To say Prague is "beautiful" would be an understatement. Being there is like being in a fairy tale because most of the buildings are castle-like. No words will be adequate to describe this city so gorgeous belonging to its very own class.

26 ~ 30 December 2008
Czeching out Prague, with C H Tan
Is it Prague's or is it our luck that we still can get a glimpse of a different era through Prague's architecture today? Prague is said to be one of the few cities which has stayed unscathed during the world war 2. Most of the similar architectural legacy in other European countries have been either destroyed or bombed back then, which made what is still left in Prague today sophisticated. The buildings in Prague are mostly painted in bright colours. (Why can't all the buildings be painted this way and then people will be so happy looking at them and eventually everyone will be living a happy life everyday. So simple...) And despite its old age, all the buildings still appear to be in good condition. Guess the government must have invested a lot of great effort in maintenance. The public transportation system in the city is good enough to keep travelling from one place to another convenient. Metro and tram are fast and clean, and affordable! though the tram route can be quite confusing sometimes. But for tourists, I'd say #22 would be the main tram you need to take to get yourself to most of the main attractions... And that's how we reached this Prague castle standing on the hill across the Charles Bridge. Some friends have told me to walk up the hill for the scenery's sake but we figured that our energy and stamina would be over-consumed since the outdoor temperature was below 3 degree celcius and so we decided to enjoy the convenience of public transportation instead. SMART choice ;)A typical gothic architecture. Impressive, isn't it? Since the cathedral and what's inside the castle had failed to interest us much, we just spent some time looking around from the outside and decided to take the walk down the hill this time :-) At least walking DOWN is easier than walking UP, rite? SMARTx2 choice :DInhaling the breathtaking view of the city from hilltop. A bit misty from the photo but it was fine on that day itself.Prague is, like what the internet says, always packed with tourists. So, if you want your holiday to be something different where you can watch normal people living their lifes doing their daily chores and feel special since you're on holiday and NOT working, Prague is definitely out of your list. It isn't easy to find the way to the Old Town Square, or better known as "布拉格广场" for people who listen to Jolin's songs. The biggest Christmas market in town was held there. There are many stalls beautifully decorated in Christmas lights selling everything from German sausages to piggy's knuckle, hot wine to icy cold draft beer, Christmas ornaments to heart-shaped cookies...... and etc. We spent almost every evening here hunting for food, enjoying the Christmas atmosphere, though the tourist crowd can be quite annoying sometimes. 'Trdlo' is one of the traditional Czech pastry. This bread is rolled in cinnamon and sugar, coated in caramel and served hot! It looks unusual, but tastes delicious! And then there's always time to warm ourselves up with a glass of hot wine... After all, the most important thing when you're on a holiday is not to rush places, but to relax and have fun.Besides the splendid architecture, the relaxing park lying just along the riverside is as inviting in the evening.. Sunset across the Charles Bridge was romantic :)
This unusual-looking building is called 'The Dancing House' and it hasn't got a single straight line on it.
We had a good time in Prague. Of course there were places we didn't have the energy to go this time, for instance the cathedral which is said to be made of human bones, located somewhere out of Prague.. that will be saved for the future. There were also things which we shouldn't have done, like the concert in some old broken cathedral. It was a waste of money.. Even though Czech is famous for musician like Beethoven, going to these so-called concerts isn't a very good idea unless you're going for the real orchestra in the concert hall which will definitely cost a bomb, but go prepared and it'll be worth it. Just my two cents :)

One thing I like about London besides its romantic nightview is the numerous musicals that they have, i.e: La Bayadère, Dirty Dancing, The Sound of Music... to name a few which I'd love to watch in the near future whenever there's a chance.Watching live performance on stage, particularly musicals like Phantom of the Opera, The Nutcracker and Giselle have always reminded me of the passion I once had for dancing without fail. Billy Elliot The Musical is a simple yet touching story about a young boy who follows his dream to become a ballet dancer despite all the inner conflicts and difficulties that he faced. Since the background setting is the 1984 miners' strike in England, the whole atmosphere was tensed. Even though there weren't much of those glamorous props and costumes unlike The Swan Lake or Sleeping Beauty, the passion in the dancer himself (Billy) is so great you will be easily convinced that any extra costume or prop will be unnecessary.. The best thing I find in the musical is the mixing of ballet and tap which definitely creates a lot of impressive dance movements. Kinda inspired me to pick up tap, someday. ;) I wasn't surprised at all that the show actually brought a tear of joy to my eye.
This is me, in front of the Victoria Palace Theatre after the show.
(ps to yinnie: thanks for giving me the info on location.. ;P )

Friends in UK, Malaysia and Korea have been asking me the same question over the MSN. Those who know that I am here in Manchester visiting the bf are obviously curious on my daily activity since the bf has to work from 9-5 everyday except for weekends. Those who have no idea on my current location tend to ask about my future plans when we're running out of topic to chat... Sorry but I don't think I am revealing them for the moment ;P (as if there's any)

Even the bf was quite worried at first, that I might be bored when he goes to work, and he still finds it hard to believe it everytime I say I'm fine and have been pretty 'busy' everyday.

I like it here despite the gloomy weather. It rains randomly, very often. But the occasional sunshines are good enough to keep me a happy girl. I wake up as early as 7:45am...... ok, 8am (still very early).. Gone were those days when I hang out with the friends in Korea till 4am after dinner, drinking, 2nd round of drinking and then the K session, and wake up at 5pm the next day, just in time for dinner again.. and you've probably just guessed the rest. LOL. My life is so damn healthy now...

We'll normally have breakfast together before he goes out. I'll then spend one or two hours over the internet basically doing the same thing..
- checking/sending emails,
- reading the world's most fascinating BOOK which starts off with an F, and continues with the word ACE,
- ASOS-ing (UK online shopping besttttt even though i havent bought anything yet so far),
- reading blogs AND writing my own as well, if I feel like it..
- If someone happens to nudge me on the MSN, there goes another 30minutes or 1 hour..

After logging off, I'll continue with the book that I'm currently reading - marshmallows for breakfast, by dorothy koomson.. hmm, not as nice as my best friend's girl but good enough to keep me reading :D Gotta pick up my reading speed a lil.. There are still many books that I want to read. Very ambitious.... tsk tsk.

The crowd in the shopping mall is horrible and unbeatable during weekends, since the season clearance is still on. And since I enjoy shopping PEACEFULLY, my shopping time has to be on weekdays, before 4pm. Imagine you don't have to queue at both the changing room and the cashier.. and you get to choose what you want at your own pace. Well, the sad truth is I can't afford to buy everything that I want here, but window shopping can be just as fun! (Trying to learn what fashion is all about. I'm falling in love with Kurt Geiger heels.. why must they be so expensive?!)

Another huge progression that I see in myself is that I'm actually learning how to cook! Cooking dinner can be fun when someone enjoys eating and seldom complains ;P Looking forward to learn more dishes AND invent MORE of my own recipes ;-)

And then there's always time for Gossip girls, Jap dramas and movies...

Alrite, that's about it! It's friday evening ppl... Going off to London for the weekend! Till then, muaxx.

I have to admit that I have not fancied Jim Carrey A LOT despite his humorous and comical acting skills... I somehow find his 'funny' attempts in many of his big movies such as truman show and ace ventura awkward and sometimes disgusting. The last movie which he acted in that I liked was Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (which wasn't very much of a comedy but one of those meaningful movie that you just have to watch it, in case you haven't)..
However, this movie is different. It is still a comedy, Jim Carrey is still hilarious and funny but this time, they come in naturally AND there is an important message in the movie, which is closely-related to many of us, if not all. The movie kept me laughing from the first minute to the very last. It has been a long time since I last watched such a movie... It was pure joy :D If anyone is going through a lot of stress or need some good laugh (like me) or entertainment, this movie will be perfect for you, I guarantee. The only regret for the movie is it is a little too short.. Such great movie should have lasted a little bit longer.
Zooey Deschanel was beautiful and natural throughout the movie. First time watching her and I've liked her instantly. Their little romance blends in perfectly with the movie. One of her line in the movie hasn't stopped playing in my mind since last night.
"The world's a playground. You know that when you are a kid, but somewhere along the way everyone forgets it." - Alison in Yes ManJim Carrey's best friend in the movie, Bradley Cooper is very charming I find! Heh!
Overall, Yes Man is a fun-filled movie which will make you feel good after watching it... So again, go watch if you need some good laughs! Highly recommendable.

For a new start!Kicking off the new year with a fresher look ^^ i'm loving my short hair now! :D

Munching my way through the packet of my favourite Sensation crisps, I'm thinking if I should set up a few resolutions for myself this year.. Diet coke and crisps in the morning, what a healthy way to start off my day!
Resolutions? ....
......
...
BLANK.
What do I want? A happy life
What do I want to achieve? A good job offer with a reasonable pay that can make my life happy
See, today we're living in a society that worships perfection. Look around and you'll see almost all the working men are so busy maintaining their perfect job and salaries, women busy maintaining their perfect complexion and figures, students busy improving their already perfect CGPAs...
While these "perfect" ones are often going through an unbelievable stress level that they don't seem to have much time for what you'd call living or even the occasional laugh, the imperfect people seem to be having all the fun and good laughters..
The funny part is that people aspire to be like those "perfect" ones, and being the "normal" ones we have no other ways but to double the effort ironing out our little flaws in the process of realising the extreme resolutions.. Sadly, extremes seldom work and resolutions are only doomed to failure..
It would be miraculous if I could get a perfect job in the UK right away with my undergraduate degree (which is almost impossible) ...
Sigh, we all want miracles, don't we? But the boring truth is that the best way of realising a dream is to take little baby steps. That's life... everything has its process, and you just have to go through it.
I'm finishing up my packet of crisps already, but have not came up with any resolution for myself yet.... I think I will just enjoy every single day as it takes me :) CH would kill me if he sees I'm typing this on his new laptop while eating the crisps... and now that I'm very thirsty and running out of Coke, I regret that I let him bring that new bottle of Coke to the office this morning.
Hold on!
I know d.... My new year resolution would be to save the last bottle of Diet Coke for myself!
Purrrfect :)
December has been a month so eventful, with all the parties, frantic countdowns, presents, excess expenses and etc... Can't remember when was the last time I actually attended a NYE countdown. I have always spent it quietly at home for the past few years.. and the reason to it is obvious - to avoid the crowd. Drinking for the sake of getting drunk, socializing in the club where you don't know half of the crowd and you will have to scream your name into the new friend's ear knowing the chances of he/she remembering it for that night itself is 0% unless you have an english name, squeezing instead of dancing, getting high in that 10cm-square of your own lil space, and the next thing is you waking up to the worst hangover ever, can't even recall how you get home.. That's just not how I'd like to spend my NYE.
BUT somehow I happened to be in the Manchester Printworks this year with a bunch of new friends. I still had fun afterall, without getting drunk... hence the hangover is saved. The crowd was scary and I swear I'll try my best to NOT get myself into any clubs for the next NYE... Home party is more of my choice :) I thought it'd be great to have an all-in-one party (which includes farewell, Christmas, Dec birthdaysss, new year) before I leave Seoul and so I organized one in a warm cafe... And it turned out perfect! One of the best parties in my life in fact, minus those late comers part (note to pohkhayinn!) ..
Christmas is quiet in UK. After dining in an Italian restaurant on Christmas eve, we headed straight home to unwrap those tempting presents :-D The Santarina outfit was a BIG surprise! Love it to bits loll ;P
The bf attempted on a roasted turkey on the Christmas day itself... Very courageous but good try for the first time! It was a bit hard but after some good laughs over it, we still managed to have a lovely evening with some candles and white wine over the dining table.. Chardonnay is just perfect for all occasions.
That's basically how I ended my year 2008 .. I'm saving the Prague section for another time.

Sometimes I really don't understand myself. Five years ago, the day I was leaving for Seoul, I was crying so hard at the airport.. I bet those who were at the airport sending me off would still remember that night. (CH happened to be there sending off someone else, we were talking about it the other day and had a good laugh over it... :D) I was so reluctant to leave, all because of my family, my bf back then and all the other good friends..

Little did I know that I was only stepping into another chapter of my life, getting to know more great people which had made my life in Korea for the past five years all so wonderful...... 23rd of Dec, 2008. The long awaited day has finally come. The day I'm leaving Korea for good after the freaking long five years which has felt like a century if not forever.. I thought I would be very excited to leave, but when the time has actually come, my heart felt so heavy to say those words "bye and see you again.." for I have no idea when will be the next time I'll get to see these people in Korea that I'll definitely miss.. (speaking of long term) How can a gift like that not make you cry? They were so happy to see my tears falling for them that night at the airport. Cruel people...It was snowing the night before the leaving day.. The snow itself was very beautiful, with shining snow flakes falling silently, as if telling me to remember that night. :)
